Our Vision

To be the premier youth development organization in the region by providing a world-class Club Experience throughout the entire enterprise and strategically expand services to more youth and families through collaborative, community partnerships ensuring all members graduate from high school on time with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Who We Are

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme help youth reach their fullest potential through a positive environment, lifelong learning, and quality programs dedicated to the arts, education, character and leadership development, health and recreation.

Our Core Promise

To America’s youth…
To provide a safe, positive place and have a significant impact upon their lives.
To the Nation…
To uphold high ethical standards in all areas, especially in overseeing our finances, reporting data on membership and community outreach, being good stewards of the donor dollar, and representing ourselves to the public.

Our History

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) have been providing quality programs to youth since 1954. After the Clubs came together in 1997 to become a unified organization, we have continued to evolve our footprint to meet the needs of every child in our community. Today, as we celebrate 72 years of service, BGCOP operates 12 vital locations throughout Oxnard and Port Hueneme, consisting of seven standalone Clubhouses and five school-based sites within the Ocean View Elementary and Hueneme Elementary school districts.

Our legacy is anchored by the historic Harriet H. Samuelsson Teen Center on 7th Street, which originally opened in 1954 and was rededicated in 2007, and the Martin V. Smith Youth Center, which opened in 2001. The Port Hueneme Club has operated continuously for decades and has now entered a new chapter as the Premier America Club. This legacy of service was further revitalized this year with the January 2026 reopening of the $3 million, state-of-the-art facility, providing a modern hub where our youth can thrive for generations to come.

To serve the kids who need us most, we maintain essential satellite clubs and specialized facilities, including the Reiter Family Youth Center at the John C. Zaragoza Community Center, the Squires Club in partnership with the Oxnard Public Housing Authority, and the Port Hueneme Teen Center. Additionally, we continue to provide critical mentorship at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Facility, which in 2007 became the first club located within a juvenile facility in the state of California. Whether on a school campus or at one of our standalone centers, BGCOP remains a steadfast beacon of stability and opportunity for thousands of families.
