Emerging Leaders Board
Lead the future. Empower the next generation.
The Emerging Leaders Board is a dynamic group of young professionals committed to advancing the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP). By fundraising, volunteering, and advocating for youth, members bring fresh energy, ideas, and leadership to an organization that has served the community since 1954.
This board offers a meaningful way to give back while growing personally and professionally, all while helping ensure local youth have access to safe spaces, caring mentors, and life-changing opportunities.

Since 1954, BGCOP has empowered young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. We serve thousands of youth each year, primarily from underserved neighborhoods, through affordable access to programs that support academic success, leadership development, and healthy lifestyles.
With an annual membership cost of just $20, BGCOP removes barriers so every child can belong. Emerging Leaders play a key role in helping sustain this accessibility and long-term impact.

Emerging Leaders commit to being active, engaged supporters of the Club through:
Fundraising: Each member commits to an annual fundraising goal of $500, with coaching and creative support from staff. Members are encouraged to promote and participate in Club 54 and other campaigns.
Volunteering: Volunteer at least once per year. The board’s signature service opportunity is the annual Emerging Leaders Career & Inspiration Day, where members share career paths, skills, and life experiences with Club teens.
Events: Attend at least two major Club events each year as a guest or volunteer, including celebrations, fundraisers, and youth-focused events.
Meetings: Meetings are held every other month via Zoom, with two in-person meetings annually. A January orientation is required for new members.
Engagement & Recruitment: Participate in social gatherings and help recruit future Emerging Leaders.
All members must complete required background checks to ensure youth safety.

Mission & Purpose
The mission of the Emerging Leaders Board is to support BGCOP by cultivating the next generation of leaders, advocates, volunteers, and donors. Members contribute time, talent, and resources to strengthen the Clubs while gaining hands-on leadership experience and a deeper connection to the community.
Serving on this board directly supports youth who face real barriers — and helps ensure they have the tools, support, and encouragement to succeed.
Our Vision
We envision a strong, connected network of emerging leaders who champion youth development and community impact. Together, we are helping ensure every child has access to safe spaces, caring mentors, and opportunities to grow into confident, successful adults.
