Tony Barnes started Peace Thru Music in 2009 to help make a child’s dream of playing music become a reality. His passion is to help children learn and grow by creating their own music and their own identity in their time and space.Tony worked as an elementary school teacher for three years and used music throughout the day as a learning tool and a way for the children to express themselves. Music played a major role in his daily lesson plan. He saw first hand how music helped them in academics, self-esteem, and socially.

Tony had the privilege to play trumpet, French horn, and cello in his Jr. High School band and orchestra under the direction of Victor Sweet. He has also played in rock and roll garage bands and performs locally. He continues to grow as a songwriter and performer -- singing, playing guitar, piano, bass, and drums. Tony Barnes graduated from California State University Northridge with a B.A. in Sociology. He also studied music under the direction of staff at Ventura College.

Tony has, and will continue to, use music as a bridge to enhance and inspire learning, and also as a way to find inner peace.
